sectionals how-to:

Paper, paper, paper:
Ordering a sectional can be a very confusing undertaking, particularly if it's made up of more than 2-3 pieces. Do not attempt to embark on this process without making many notes and trying different configuration variations.

Left Arm / Right Arm:
This is a very important term to understand when ordering sectionals.
It is customary to refer to the arms based on what you see FACING the furniture, NOT WHILE SITTING on it! Please refer to the diagrams above for examples.

Getting the right size configuration:
1. Measure the room the sectional is going to be placed in. Do not forget to note areas of the room that need to remain free for people to pass through.

2. Choose the style of the sectional and decide where you want the sleeper (if any) to be and write down the list of the pieces you would like to include.

3. Determine whether the style you chose has a Corner Sofa (Maxi or Apt) or a Wedge in the center of the sectional. For example, the westerly collection has Corner Sofas but the exeter collection has wedges.

a. The wedges have a 36" x 36" footprint. So to determine the dimensions of your sectional, just add up all lengths of the pieces on one the left side and add 36" for the wedge. Repeat the process for all the pieces on the right side. The two numbers will give you the size of your sectional.

b. A Corner sofas takes on the functions of both the side pice and the Wedge, so you will need to use the depth of the Corner sofa as part of the sectional length on the opposite side.

c. Again, make notes.

Size precision:
Upholstered furniture consists of many soft elements such as foam, fiber, fabric. That makes it virtually impossible to predict its final size with the kind of precision that is possible with other products. Therefore, please allow 2" variance on all length dimensions and 1" variance on all depths and height dimensions shown on this site.
